MANCHESTER FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL 9TH – 11TH OCTOBER

September 29th, 2009

Manchester city centre is the location of Europe’s biggest and best urban gastronomic celebration.

Albert Square is the site of the Festival Finale Weekend (Oct 9-11), which will see a huge amount of foodie-loving activities, stalls and events for all the family. Thirsty ale lovers will enjoy the Real Ale Fair, in association with CAMRA, while an Oktoberfest, in association with Lufthansa, will bring the magic of the most famous German beer celebration to the city.

Phil Jones, executive director,  said: “The twelfth Manchester Food and Drink Festival is just about to launch, and there are some incredibly exciting events coming up that our dedicated team have been working on for the past few months.

“New to this year is the Independent and Local Wine Festival, the whiskey festival and of course, our Oktoberfest. All we need now is for the people of Manchester to come down an enjoy it!”

Siobhan Hanley, festival director, added, “We have top quality line-up of events this year, and all the participating restaurants have come up with some amazing ideas. We’d like to thank everyone who has worked so hard in putting this celebration together.”

Also new to this year is the delectable Dinner In The City Series, in association with Forever Manchester and Smooth Radio. This is an appetising array of completely unique and exciting dining experiences at a different restaurant for each day of the festival. A percentage of profits will go to Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s Grassroots Fund. Expect seasonal surprises, cock¬tail dinners and celebrity guest stars as part of this tasty series of events.

The annual food and drink extravaganza comes to a climax with the much-awaited Gala Dinner and Awards at the Palace Hotel on Monday, October 12. The Hairy Bikers – Si and Dave – will zoom into town and wow the crowd with their witty Northern banter. Tickets are available from: http://mfdfgaladinnerandawards.eventbrite.com/
