As part of a £6.5m marketing investment for 2009, brand leader, Ginsters of Cornwall, returns to television screens. Against a background where many companies are cutting back on their ad spend, the company is delivering on its commitment to high profile brand support, and hitting an audience of more than 40 million consumers across the country.

On air now until 13th November, consumers will see the award-winning Real Honest Food campaign as the “keeping a close eye on quality” advertising appears in peak time TV spots across the autumn. Retaining the focus on food values and quality local ingredients, the humorous ads will see a thinly disguised pantomime cow grazing and keeping watch amongst the Ginsters herd and a telescope appearing from inside a tree, watching over Ginsters locally-grown potatoes.

“Our TV presence showcases the locally sourced ingredients that make our products so special. As the market leading brand in savoury pastries, we are using TV to drive growth of our brand and, by bringing new users to the market, growth of the total category. The record breaking numbers we continue to achieve in market share are evidence of the fantastic response we’ve had from consumers to our quality local ingredients message.”

The Ginsters message is borne out by the latest market statistics from TNS for the 52 weeks to 9th August 2009. Ginsters’ share of the £800m savoury pastry market has risen to a record 10.4%, while its nearest branded competitor has declined to 2.9%. Ginsters is the only brand in the category to receive national TV support this year. While the total Savoury Pastry market has grown by 4.6% in the latest year, pasties and slices (where Ginsters TV is targeted) have grown by 18.9%, an outstanding performance in the current economic climate.
