ARE SUPPER CLUBS THE NEW SOCIAL NETWORKING
TV programme Come Dine With Me has kicked off an increase in users of the search term Supper Club.
We recently saw the launch of new reality TV series ‘Come Dine With Me’ kicking off with a celebrity special and, in response, www.clubbz.com has seen an increase in users searching for the term “supper club” as the glorified dinner parties are the latest foodie trend.
Even though it is a relatively new concept, supper clubs are now three times more searched for than hobbies like tennis and swimming on the website, especially in the London area.
The increase in people looking to host or attend dinner parties could also be linked to the popularity of Jamie’s American Road Trip, in which the chef visited a supper club in New York. People are now more open to the idea of joining friends and even welcoming strangers into their homes for meals as part of this growing craze.
Rob Yorke, co-founder of Clubbz.com spoke about these findings;
“It’s no surprise that Strictly Come Dancing has given more people the confidence to take up dance as their new hobby. Currently there are 140 dance groups throughout the UK on Clubbz, so there’s plenty of choice for people.
He continued, “Supper clubs and dinner groups are a fantastic idea and again I see the appeal. The number of people searching for this sort of thing at Clubbz.com is growing, so we would encourage anyone who runs a similar group to add their club today to start benefitting from a large number of members!”
