WAITROSE LAUNCHES NEW DESSERT RANGE
Waitrose claims it is reviving the age of gastronomic decadence with a new range that will tantalise the taste buds of dessert lovers nationwide and also those afternoon tea connoisseurs.
Called “Seriously” the range comprises the tastiest biscuits, delicious cakes, most luxurious desserts and gooiest dipping sauces to make a range of sweet treats that will take your dessert time from rich tea to high tea.
Timeless favourites Lemon Posset, Tarte au Citron and Tiramisu get a luscious twist alongside new creations such as Raspberry and Custard Tarts and Tulameen Raspberry Pavlova Ice Cream – all lovingly created by the Waitrose team of doting dessertsperts along with specialist craftsmen.
Those in need of an impressive dinner party dessert can choose from the mouth-watering sharing selection including Lemon and Raspberry Torte – a tangy lemon mousse with fresh raspberries and a raspberry compote on a base of genoese cake with an extra raspberry glaze. Fruit has never tasted so good.
For those celebrating the revival of Cake Clubs, the Seriously bakery range will provide an impressive afternoon tea. Sharing cakes include a Chocolate Fudge Cake to die for or the delicious more classic Cherry and Marzipan Cake. Created by baking aficionado Fiona Cairns, the range also includes iced gems such as Ginger Loaf with Lemon Butter Icing – an all butter ginger cake topped with a lemon buttercream and stem ginger.
Bite sized delicacies range from chocolate dipped biccies to mouth watering Almond and Coconut Macaroons delicious with a cup of tea or an after dinner treat. The all important cupcake makes several appearances with crowd-pleasing flavours such as Chocolate Buttercream and Walnut and Almond. Add some dipping fruit to your afternoon tea and serve with Seriously Chocolate Dipping Sauce made with dark Belgian Chocolate and thick double cream.
Chocaholics will be able to sate their appetite from a choice of more than 50 chocolate treats such as Tarte au Chocolat – an all butter pastry filled with rich dark Belgian chocolate ganache or Pot au Chocolat – a not to be shared, individual pot of rich, velvety Belgian chocolate made with 64% cocoa solids .
Ice-cream fiends will find heaven in frozen delights such as Colombian Coffee Ice Cream – made using 100% Colombian coffee beans combined with thick British dairy ice cream. Seriously sorbets include Fruity Alphonso Mango Sorbet – a tutti fruity beauty of a dessert.
Not forgetting that sweet treats are good at any time of day, the Seriously breakfast selection will put an early morning smile on your face. Seriously cereals include Seriously Nutty Maple And Mixed Nut Crisp – crispy clusters of oat, rice and wheat with maple flavoured syrup and almonds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, and pecans. Seriously Zesty Lemon Curd – made with free range eggs, butter and lemon zest is perfect on toast or oven warmed morning scones. And fans of a fruity breakfast will love the Seriously range of fruity coulis – the perfect complement to a fresh fruit selection.
