MAKE US A BREW LAUNCHES NEW HERBAL TEA RANGE

August 25th, 2009

Following the launch of its English Breakfast variant into the retail sector, cult tea brand, make us a brew! unveiled a new range of herbal based, organic tea-bag blends at this year’s Big Chill Festival, launching onto the retail market in late summer.

The two new blends including Big Chill (an organic roobios based variant with pear, cinnamon and natural relaxant valerian) and Look Lively (containing natural stimulant yerba mate, lemongrass and mint) will complement the re-launch of the best selling tea variety Mint & Chilli that will also be re-launched under the herbal tea range umbrella.

With overall sales of the make us a brew! brand up by well over 50% for the first half of 2009, the new herbal tea range aims to help increase the brand’s presence further within the hot beverages category by appealing to health conscious consumers and tea enthusiasts.

“We have seen significant growth since we launched the brand in 2007 and this has helped us ride the wave of the current recession,” reports Elyse Taylor, managing director of the make us a brew!. “Our plan was to always allow the brand to grow organically and we have attracted a strong customer base from our listings in stores such as Selfridges and Wholefoods Market, and more recently, Waitrose which now stocks our English Breakfast teabags. With our new herbal range, we hope to reach more consumers through independent, health and organic stores and build upon the success we have seen already during the first half of 2009.”

Featuring new packaging designed by make us a brew! founder DJ Mr.Scruff, including his iconic, quirky cartoons depicting how the teas make the consumer feel, the new range will be available in robust, cellophane free, 80% recycled cardboard boxes and will contain chlorine free, fully compostable tea bags.

Big Chill, Look Lively and re-launched Chilli & Mint make us a brew! organic herbal teas will be available from September, RRP £2.19 for a box of 25 teabags.
