CHESHIRE CHEESE WINS GOLD AT COUNTY SHOW
Cheshire Cheese has won this year’s annual cheeseboard competition at the Cheshire Show with a fun and quirky Cheshire cat creation.
Described by the judging panel as a ‘Simple, appealing concept involving local cheese that is integral to the Cheshire Show’, the Cheshire Cheese cat fought off stiff competition from a range of cheesemakers.
The eye-catching creation mirrored the famous Cheshire Cheese cat logo, incorporating red, white and blue Cheshire cheese, chives for whiskers and red grapes for eyes.
Nigel White, Cheshire Cheese spokesperson said; “The criteria for the cheeseboard competition was to create a cheeseboard to the value of £15 or under using locally produced cheese.
“The Cheshire Cheese campaign is a joint initiative of Reece’s, Belton and Joseph Heler and together decided that a fun take on the traditional cheeseboard would be the way to go as a competition entry, to show just what the Cheshire Cheese campaign is all about.
“It is fantastic that the judges saw this too by awarding us Gold and we are absolutely delighted to be winners of the competition.”
The 2009 Cheshire County Show in Knutsford saw a record number of visitors and cheese exhibits this year with crowds reaching 80,000 over the two days making it the most successful show in years.
Cheshire Cheese exhibited in the cheese tent at the show, offering free face painting for children, cheese samples and recipe cards for a host of Cheshire Cheese inspired recipes.
