CROOTS FARM SHOP LAUNCHES TWO NEW PRODUCTS

June 24th, 2009

Derbyshire farm shop owner Steve Croot has created two beers especially for Croots Farm Shop & Kitchen after working with Nutbrook Brewery.

Pig in a Bottle and Croots Shire Ale have been designed by ale fan Steve to go alongside the other regional beers on sale at the farm shop at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, Duffield.

Croots Shire Ale, a strong brew at 6.2%, pays tribute to the Shire horses that graze at Farnah House Farm, and features a 50-year-old photo on its label which shows Tom Yates – the grandfather of Steve’s wife Kay – and two Shire horses that lived at the farm in 1959.

Pig in a Bottle, a ‘hoppy beer’ at 4.5%, features the Croots Farm Shop logo.

“I really enjoyed helping to design and make the beers with Nutbrook Brewery,” said Steve. “I’ve always enjoyed beers although I’m a wine drinker really, but since we introduced regional beers at Croots I’ve become even more of a fan. These new Croots beers from Nutbrook are a great addition to our beer range, and have been selling well since we put them on the shelves.”

Alongside the Croots beers brewed by West Hallam-based Nutbrook Brewery are a number of other regional beers including Cleopatra (at 5%) from Derventio in Ashbourne, and three beers from Amber Ales, near Ripley, which are the award-winning Original Black Stout, at 4%, which was voted as one of the top three beers in the country at the 2008 SIBA awards – the brewers’ Oscars; Amber Blond Beer, at 3.9%, which is a refreshing extra pale ale; and Organic Sparkling Ale, at 5.1%, which is made with English organic malt and First Gold hops.

Croots has also just introduced Business as Usual, at 4.4%, and Old International, at 5%, from the Derby Brewing Company.

Croots is a supporter of local producers and sells items from more than 30 suppliers across the region.CR
