TETLEY TO SPONSOR NATIONAL CUPPA DAY

May 14th, 2009

Tetley is again lending its support to The Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ National Independents Week with co-sponsorship of National Cuppa Day which will be held in the middle of the week on Wednesday 3 June. Tetley’s co brand sponsors are Tate & Lyle and McVitie’s.

National Independents Week is a key event in the My Shop Is Your Shop (MSYS) campaign, which promotes the value of independent convenience stores, newsagents and rural shops to the local community.

As part of the sponsorship branded cups, posters and other promotional material will form part of a special retail pack for the National Cuppa Day which independent stores can request from the MSYS website or by calling 0161 440 2789.

The day is a simple, but effective concept whereby independents offer customers a cup of tea and a biscuit as a simple thank you to loyal customer or as a welcome to attract new shoppers.

Free packs of tea are being made available to independent retailers through offers at most cash and carry outlets. Tetley 40s are being offered at 12 for the price of 11 and Tetley 80s at six for the price of five.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to lend our support to independents through this initiative. Given the current economic climate events such as this are important to highlight the role of independents and their role in the local community,” says Simon Attfield, customer marketing controller for Tetley GB.
