SHERBET FOUNTAIN GETS A NEW LOOK

May 13th, 2009

Tangerine confectionery who make Sherbet Fountains announced that they are switching from iconic cardboard tubes to reseal able plastic tubes which they think will be more hygienic. This was reported in The Belfast Telegraph.

How can they do this? How will children grow up knowing how to wrestle with soggy paper as they try and suck the mixture up with a soggy straw.

Aquarterof.co.uk is an online shop that keeps supplies of traditional confectionery and its founder Michael Parker said he has been inundated with e-mails who don’t want to see the packaging changed. He told the paper “The response has been phenomenal,” the Blackburn-based entrepreneur said. “I’m sure Tangerine have good reasons for changing the packaging but people are passionate about their sweets and they tend not to react too positively when packaging is changed. Perhaps it’s because we like rediscovering our childhoods through sweets, but people cling to nostalgia when it comes to sweets.”
