ONE POT COOKERY IS THE MOST POPULAR ACCORDING TO AMAZON

May 21st, 2009

The book called One Pot cookery has remained in the Amazon top seller’s list for over two years!  Published by BBC Good Food Magazines, does this tell us something about cooking habits in the UK.

The big benefit of one pot cookery is that by and large the meals can be very simply prepared, and very simply cooked.

Just using a low heat, something extremely nutrition and tasty can be created out of simple and fresh materials. Combining the carbohydrate with the protein and vegetables means that these dishes are often homely and comforting and bang on trend for the nostalgic food revival.

Also one pot dishes can be left to their own devices. Some of the slow dishes can be left on all day so that when householders return home, there is something already cooked and nice to eat. They often feel that “someone else” has done the cooking for them, and this can be a return to the day’s when mum did the cooking.

And this method fits in with modern busy lifestyles where the cook of the house is busy out of home, or catching up on e-mails, or stuck in traffic and something is bubbling away without them worrying.

The book is now at a slightly worrying low price, which might indicate the real reason for its success, but at £2.00 it could be a good inspiration for some easy to cook meals.
