BBC RADIO 4 PROGRAMME CALLING TIME ON THE BINGE DRINKERS

Broadcast on May 1st, this BBC Radio 4 programme is presented by PY Gerbeau, a French businessman who has been shocked at the British Booze culture, and the site of teenagers drunk in the street.
Himself a bit of a teetotaller he now heads up X-Leisure, the largest leisure owner in the UK. Each weekend thousands of youngsters gather at the leisure centres he heads up, intent on getting smashed. Nonetheless his team tries to limit alcohol consumption but to limited success.
He claims it is time for an awakening of conscience and draws analogies with the government’s action on tobacco.
