Once upon a time we all knew exactly what beansprouts, or beanshoots were.  They were tiny moong bean plants which formed the mystical bulking ingredient in many Chinese dishes, the main sprout rich special being “Chop Suey” which has all but disappeared from Chinese restaurant and takeaway menus.

However, Aconbury has made a good living out of launching a range of sprouts, and Bolden Snow Pea is its latest offering.  The company describes the product as a superfood sensation, it is super tasty and super crunchy with a gentle pea flavour we are told.

Recommended as a stunning garnish for fish and chicken dishes and we are told that they look fantastic in salads and stir-fries.  No hyperbole there then?

Sprouts do still seem to be a bit under rated and under valued.  Because they are infant plants they are rich in micro nurients and they are a faff if you try and make your own.
