PLUM BECOMES THE NEW BLACK AS PRUNES BECOME NEW SLIMMING AID
Snacking on dried plums (prunes) could be a more effective appetite suppressant than some low fat snacks according to a report reviewed by NutraIngredients.com .
Scientists from San Diego State University presented their findings which suggested that prunes were an excellent satiety agent and curbed consumers’ appetites.
Satiety is a big topic now with food manufacturers and the subject is embodied in the topic now known as weight management.
Mark Kern, at the university, lead the study and noted that 87% of women snack twice a day.
The prunes as a snack were compared with a low fat cookie and not surprisingly were found to have a “beneficial” effect on bowel movements. This was billed as an improvement on overall digestive health.
