FREE FROM FOODS GET NEW RECIPE SITE
So numerous have the manufacturers of free-from foods now become and so good are the recipes that they have devised for their products that Foods Matter, the UK’s only magazine for those with food allergies and intolerances, and instigators of the Foods Matter FreeFrom Food Awards, has launched a new section on their website featuring not only their own tried and tested free from recipes but those from free-from cooks and cookery writers and free-from food manufacturers.
The recipe section (to be found at http://www.foodsmatter.com/recipes/index.html) is part of the recently re-launched Foods Matter site (http://www.foodsmatter.com) which covers every aspect of allergy and intolerance to food, includes over 1300 pages and, three months after its relaunch, had over a quarter of a million hits and 15,000 unique visits in February.
The recipe section, which features mouth watering pictures of the dishes, includes 25 of Foods Matter’s own tried and tested dairy, wheat, gluten, egg, soya, nut, nightshade or sugar free recipes, sample recipes and reviews from recent free-from cookery books (and more to come) and a rapidly expanding section of manufacturer’s recipes, each tried and tested to show just how flexible free-from ingredients can be.
All of these manufacturers will be represented at this year’s FreeFrom Food Awards which will be awarded in May, during Allergy Week. Well over 300 products are expected to compete for the individual category awards (see http://www.freefromfoodawards.co.uk/categories.html) and for the FAIR award for the best FreeFrom Food 2009. A shortlist for the awards will be released at the beginning of April.
