RAPESEED OIL NOW DRESSING UP
Eli Farrington and her husband Duncan, based on their farm in Northamptonshire, have produced a series of “award winning” salad dressings. Their latest is based on Rapeseed oil and therefore claims a very low saturated fat content. It is also claimed that it emulsifies easily and remains mixed much longer than other oils can. They will be unveiling it at IFE09.
Inspired by the desire to have an innovative British take on the ever-popular French dressing, Eli Farrington has created this ultimate salad dressing. The ‘Classic Vinaigrette’ has a sharp, tangy taste, is extremely versatile and has been carefully crafted to complement any salad. The use of Farrington’s MELLOW YELLOW as a base for the dressing makes it emulsify wonderfully, without the need for constant shaking. And it pours beautifully every time.
The recipe for this ‘Classic Vinaigrette’ was inspired by Eli’s passion for food and her commitment to the cold pressed rapeseed oil – MELLOW YELLOW – produced by her husband Duncan on their Northamptonshire farm. Eli says: “I blended and perfected the dressing in the traditional way – using a jam jar in my farmhouse kitchen. And I asked family and friends to be my critical taste-panel! I’m delighted with the result: this new ‘Classic Vinaigrette’ is a perfectly balanced combination of MELLOW YELLOW, Aspall’s white wine vinegar and just the right amount of herbs and spices.”
Cold pressed rapeseed oil not only tastes great, but it also has one of the lowest concentrations of saturated fats. So with less than half the saturated fat than of olive oil, as well as 6.0g of Omega 3 per 100g and free from unnecessary additives, this uncompromising tasty ‘Classic Vinaigrette’ is a healthier choice for salad lovers.
Farrington’s range of salad dressings was the first in the UK to use cold pressed rapeseed oil as its base. The MELLOW YELLOW Classic Vinaigrette is the third in the Farrington’s award-winning range of dressings. MELLOW YELLOW Blackberry Vinegar Dressing won Great Taste Awards two-star gold in 2007 and MELLOW YELLOW Honey & Mustard Dressing won Great Taste Awards one gold-star in 2007.
