Beans means greens hit the spot
A green New Year`s resolution may not just perk up the planet but might also put a spring in your own step thanks to the new And So On range of sprouting beans.
Billed as a handy and tasty way to help hit your five-a-day fruit and veg target, the range is available at the Co-op, selected Spar and Waitrose stores and the entire Booths chain.
They make a handy and healthy snack on their own, and can also bring a fresh crunch and great taste to sandwiches, soups, salads and stir fry.
The are grown by W S Bentley, which started life fifty years ago as a market gardener growing and selling spring onions, beetroot, radishes and other salad foods.
In the early 1960s, salad cress was added and gradually took over its entire operation. Since 1972, cress has been the main focus of this specialist’s skills.
Says MD Jan Bentley: "Our beans are pure goodness, grown without pesticides at our West Yorkshire nursery. As a small local grower it is satisfying to see our packs on sale and ready to eat at premium fresh food outlets."
