New vintage helps combat the cold
A leading drink manufacturer has unveiled a new vintage gin that has a unique twist to help ward off the effects of the cold winter days.
Blackwood’s new 2007 Vintage Dry Gin features the addition of elderflower to the signature combination of hand-picked botanicals found in all their vintages.
The firm claims the elderflower brings not only a warmth and richness to the gin’s flavour, but also many traditional medicinal benefits.
Richard Ambler, managing director of Blavod Extreme Spirits, said: "The floral notes of elderflower have always combined well with the delicate flavour of Blackwood’s Vintage Dry Gin, and with elderflower flourishing across the Shetland Isles, it is the perfect addition to the 2007 vintage."
Rich in vitamin C, Elderflower has long been used to fight coughs and colds, reduce fever and boost circulation.
The accompanying botanicals all boast similar properties. Coriander can be used to relieve anxiety and cure insomnia, meadowsweet calms an acidic stomach while wild water mint soothes headaches, fights nausea and combats fatigue.
