Heinz launches tomato puree range

October 15th, 2008

Heinz is aiming a new range of tomato purees at busy parents, saying they contain all the flavour needed for preparing home-cooked meals for the family.

The range of four Heinz Tomato Purees are infused with herbs and spices, aiming to be the basis of popular dishes such as spaghetti bolognese and chilli con carne.

Alongside plain tomato puree, new flavours with garlic, chilli and Mexican spices in 130g foil tubes will join the range from the middle of October.

Heinz brand manager Lynsey Hurst said: "Mums increasingly want to cook family meals from scratch during the week, and sometimes need a hand to use the right herbs and spices, without compromising on natural, quality ingredients.

"With the launch of Heinz Tomato Purees, Heinz is lending its trusted name and unique tomato expertise to the puree category."

The new range’s packaging features images of the puree ingredients such as tomatoes, chillies and garlic. Up to 100,000 packs will also feature recipe stickers aimed at giving parents new meal ideas for during the week.

The global firm is also revamping the design of its chopped tomatoes, tomato frito, passata and whole peeled tomatoes, so they match the new-look purees range.
