Packing firm signs £1.2m contract

September 25th, 2008

A packaging machinery specialist has secured a £1.2 million contract to supply one of its automated systems to a Cadbury’s factory in Sheffield.

The robotic palletising equipment from CIF Systems saves time and money by conveying cases from eight production lines at a speed of 22 cases per minute. The products are then efficiently sent through three robot cells and on to a pallet handling system.

The operation uses three ABB IRB 660 robots fitted with vacuum grippes and operates with a dedicated palletising program known as Pick Master 5 software.

The system handles three separate pallet sizes: Cheep UK; Euro; and the Cheep USA pallet. The distribution system has detaches for each pallet size which feed single pallets onto a shuttle car that delivers them to the appropriate robot station.

Pallets are then filled and shuttled to a high speed stretchwrapper unit where they are wrapped ready for exporting.
