Israeli pepper coming to Europe

September 25th, 2008

An exclusive pepper from Israel is on its way to retailers in Europe, Canada and USA

The organic Ramiro is a sweet, pointed organic pepper marketed by Agrexco. The company says its sweeter taste, intense red colour and long shelf life gives it many advantages over other peppers.

Agrexco is Israel’s largest exporter of agricultural produce to the European Union. The majority share of the firm (50%) is owned by the Israeli state, with the country’s production and marketing boards owning 25%, and the Tnuva co-operative holding the remaining 25%.

The organic Ramiro is grown using prevention techniques, in compliance with Globalgap standards. Globalgap sets these for the certification of agricultural products around the globe. The aim is to establish one standard for Good Agricultural Practice with different product applications capable of fitting to the whole of global agriculture.

The organic growers have adopted the most advanced technologies including controlled heating systems in situations of extreme low temperatures.

The organic Ramiro is marketed to the leading chains in England, Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Canada and the USA.
