‘Healthy’ soya cream hits shelves

September 24th, 2008

An alternative dairy product has just been launched targeted at consumers wanting to stay healthy while still enjoying the odd treat.

Alpro soya is a chilled alternative to single cream and can be used as part of a healthy balanced diet on desserts, or as an ingredient in recipes.

The soya alternative contains 3.2g of fat per 30ml serving, compared with 5.7g for dairy cream. Of that, just 0.4% is saturated fat, where the average for dairy cream is 3.6g. Its makers claim that makes Alpro soya the lightest cream substitute on the market.

The single cream alternative is also free from artificial colours, preservatives and sweeteners.

Alpro soya is available in 250ml cartons from the chilled section of Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, with a recommended retail price of 79p.
