Raisin-free a muesli ‘a first’

August 27th, 2008

Rude Health has developed a new product that it says represents a first for the breakfast cereal market.

The company’s No Flamin’ Raisins is the first widely-available organic muesli to contain no raisins, currants or sultanas, according to Talking Retail.

Rude Health explained that it had conducted research into consumers’ breakfast cereal preferences, finding that 30 per cent do not want raisins included.

A playful image and new packaging are also being introduced to the entire range, with a box that can be recycled and a biodegradable bag.

Director Camilla Barnard said: “We identified an opportunity to bring a bit of fun to the cereal aisle, with a premium yet affordable and quirky positioning to appeal to adults of all ages.”

Rude Health faces competition from Jordans, which yesterday announced that some of its products would come in gable-box format instead of bags.

The firm also launched its own new product in the shape of Fruity Fibre muesli, just-food.com reported.
