New texture for healthy cheddar
Wyke Farms has developed a new recipe for one of its cheese products.
According to Talking Retail, consumer demand has prompted the company to improve the texture of Leskol Half Fat cheddar.
It has used a new technique to produce a smooth and creamy flavour that is said to not usually be associated with healthy cheeses.
Mangaing director of Wyke Farms Richard Clothier told the website that “an interactive ‘honesty booth’” had been introduced last year, travelling around the country.
“We use it to encourage honest feedback and then respond quickly to the developing tastes of the consumer,” he explained.
New packaging has also been designed, which the company hopes will attract female buyers by highlighting the health benefits of the product.
Last week Talking Retail revealed that Kavli was attempting to challenge Dairylea in the cheese portions market by introducing a new cheese triangles product.
