New Australian beer arrives in the UK
A new beer has been brought to the UK market by specialist importer Pierhead Purchasing, it has been reported.
According to Talking Retail, Pierhead is adding to its range of international brands with Boag’s St George – an Australian lager named after the patron saint of England.
It is brewed by James Boag & Son, the beers of which all feature St George.
The website reports that Boag’s St George is a premium beer with a distinctive citrus hop flavour and a golden straw colour.
Pierhead’s Michael Cook explained that it had been introduced to fill a gap in the bottled beer market for an authentic Australian lager.
“With consumers continuing to be more discerning and experimental in their beer selections, Boag’s St George offers retailers an excellent opportunity to capitalise on the growing interest in beers with real points of difference,” he added.
Canterbury Jack, an ale with a comparatively low alcohol by volume content of 3.5 per cent, was recently unveiled at the Great British Beer Festival.
