Mars is adding a new variant to its Mars Planets range, with new packaging aimed at appealing to a wider market.
With the number of people choosing to share chocolate, growing three times faster than those eating the food alone, Mars Planets Pouch has been designed to capitalise on the trend, Talking Retail reports.
The manufacturer’s own research also found that 70 per cent of chocolate consumption occurs in groups, demonstrating a demand for sharing products.
Trade relations manager Bep Sandhu was quoted by the website as saying: “The launch of Mars Planets Pouch is expected to ensure further growth not only for Mars Planets but for the whole bite-size category.”
Mars is supporting the launch with a £6 million marketing campaign.
Last month the company announced that it would invest £5 million in research to decode the DNA of the cocoa tree, hoping this would lead to the discovery of the secret behind the perfect flavour of chocoloate.
