Low-fat chocolate milk from Galaxy
Mars is launching a new chocolate milk drink under its Galaxy brand.
Dubbed Galaxy 1 Litre fresh, it will be made from 87 per cent fresh milk and contain just two per cent fat, Talking Retail reports.
The company says it is aiming the product at young women, hoping to encourage an increase in calcium consumption as three-quarters are not getting enough.
Mars claims the Galaxy brand currently holds 6.5 per cent of the flavoured milk market and trade relations manager Bep Sandhu commented: “The Galaxy drinks range is experiencing considerable growth and we are confident that the new Galaxy fresh variant will add to this success.”
The drink may be marketed as being beneficial to bones, skin and hair due to its protein and calcium content.
Last month Mars announced it would invest £5 million in research to decode the DNA of the cocoa tree.
