Healthy new cereal for chocolate lovers

August 2nd, 2008 by

Quaker has launched a new chocolate version of its Oat Crisp breakfast cereal.

Containing over 70 per cent wholegrain, the brand believes it is the perfect morning option for those looking to indulge while eating healthily, according to Talking Retail.

A slow release of energy from the oats will minimise hunger during the day, while chocolate curls will maximise taste, the company stated.

Marketing manager Hayley Stringfellow said: “Quaker Original Oat Crisp is performing really well in the UK. Launching Chocolate Oat Crisp will enable Quaker to further build on this success by capitalising on the trend for healthy yet delicious breakfast cereals.”

Quaker claims the product has 30 per cent less sugar than its leading rival and is hoping it will increase its share in the £1.25 billion ready-to-eat breakfast cereals sector.

Last week the Breakfast Cereal Information Service released research that showed four out of ten teenagers regularly skip breakfast.
