Harveys announces sherry cocktail

August 22nd, 2008

Sherry brand Harveys is trialling a new cocktail for the summer, combining the traditional fortified wine with lemonade.

Beam Global UK, which owns the brand, is aiming to modernise the drink, with brand manager Janice Moorfield claiming it is Harveys’ “responsibility” to show that it is relevant to today’s consumer.

Ms Moorfield said: “Serving Harveys as a long drink with lemonade will demonstrate to first-time sherry drinkers that it is a highly versatile drink, suitable for adults of all ages.”

Made from one part sherry and two parts lemonade, the cocktail is served over ice with fresh strawberries, orange and lime.

It will be trialled at Somerset House’s film festival later this month and across south-east England in August.

Toorank Distilleries launched a range of rum cocktails last month, claiming it was the first to use the spirit in the ready-to-serve sector, Talking Retail reported.
