First unsalted free range butter to hit shelves
Anchor is responding to consumer demand with the development of its first unsalted butter.
The company says it will be the only free range unsalted butter on the UK market and comes following feedback from customers that suggested such a product would be popular, Talking Retail reports.
With the Food Standards Agency and various health professionals increasingly informing consumers of the need to lower salt intake, Anchor’s experiential campaigns found that appetite for low-salt foods was growing.
Brand manager Emily Oldridge said: “One of the most popular requests from consumers was for Anchor to launch an unsalted variant. So there is clearly a gap in our range and a huge growth opportunity.”
Anchor Unsalted will be available from the beginning of September in a new packaging format to distinguish it from other products in the range.
Last month a survey by the Food Standards Agency found that the food manufacturing industry had lowered the average salt content of bread by 30 per cent.
