Coca-Cola combines coffee and energy drink

August 2nd, 2008

The world’s largest soft drink company, Coca-Cola, has announced the launch of a coffee energy drink.

Marketed under the Full Throttle energy drinks brand, the coffee will be packaged in an aluminium can and feature the tagline “Coffee. Fully Charged”.

Coca-Cola said the drink, which will go on sale in August, will be made with 100 per cent premium Columbian Arabica coffee and comes in mocha, vanilla and caramel flavours.

According to senior brand manager Rafael Acevedo: “Guys are increasingly looking for great-tasting beverage options that will give them the extra ‘kick’ they need to conquer their day. Full Throttle coffee combines the smooth, rich taste of coffee with the intensity [of] a Full Throttle energy drink.”

In February Coca-Cola added Juiced Energy to the Relentless line of energy drinks, which it launched in 2006. Describing it as “a true innovation”, the company said it is intended for breakfast consumption and contains 50 per cent fruit juice.
