Vegan pesto product launched

July 2nd, 2008

Vegetarian and vegan company Essential has created a new vegan food product, which is also organic.

Comprising of just four ingredients, the company claims that the pesto stays true to the original Italian recipe.

The product has been certified as organic by the Soil Association and vegan by the Vegan Society as well as winning praise from celebrity chef Anthony Worrall Thompson.

Basil, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and pine nuts have been used to create the pesto, with the option of adding more olive oil to taste.

This, according to Essential, will mean consumers can use the product for a variety of different needs – such as a stir-through sauce.

Last week, Sacla – a company with a 20 per cent share in the stir-through sauce category – launched a new innovation, an Italian Red Onion & Gorgonzola product, Talking Retail reported.
