Tangerine Confectionery launches natural, fat-free jellies

July 21st, 2008

Britain’s biggest independent manufacturer of sugar sweets has formulated a range of jellies made with natural colours and flavours.

The sweets, from Tangerine Confectionery, are fat-free, suitable for vegetarians and Halal approved, Talking Retail reports.

Marketed within the company’s existing ‘proper sweets’ range, the Taveners Proper Sweets Fruit Jellies will come in pear, lime, lemon, mandarin, raspberry and blackcurrant flavours.

Tangerine Confectionery group marketing manager Helen Sear said: “The Taveners range represents high quality and familiarity – these are sweets which many people have enjoyed since their childhood and there is a sense of them being ‘old favourites’.”

Also included in the ‘proper sweets’ range are wine gums, jelly babies, humbugs and fruit pastilles.

Blackpool-based Tangerine became one of the largest sugar confectionery firms in Europe when it acquired Monkhill Confectionery from Cadbury Schweppes earlier this year – bringing brands such as Butterkist popcorn and Barrett Sherbet Fountains into the company.
