Sweet packs offering higher margins

An eight-strong range of sweet roll packs could offer retailers margins of over 40 per cent, it is claimed.

Hancocks has exclusively launched the range of roll packs from Oatfield, which includes the names Cherry Drops, Mint Humbugs and Liquorice Bon Bons.

Richard Brittle, purchasing director at Hancocks cash and carry confectionary wholesalers, said the range had a retail value of 25p compared to branded equivalents at 41p.

He said consumers could have a better value choice while retailers could enjoy margins of over 40 per cent.

Hancocks is also preparing to promote its pick and mix and pre pack stand ranges, which will be available from June 21 to July 4.

Sweet Peanuts are being added to the Share Bag range of adult pre packed sweets.

Mr Brittle said the stands were compact and could profit from weighouts.
