Grolsch launches “unique” bottle

July 26th, 2008

Dutch lager brand Grolsch has introduced a new swing-top bottle to the UK.

Coors Brewers says the redesigned bottle has a slimmer shape and ‘retro grip strips’, representing the brand’s commitment to innovation and originality.

The design, which is available in bars, restaurants and off-licences this week, is only the fourth incarnation since the lager was launched in 1897 and senior brand manager Laura Burgoyne believes “111 years of craftsmanship and conviction” have gone into its creation.

She added: “As one of the most identifiable and functional designs, our 2008 swing-top bottle is a modern classic Â… and a fantastic example of great, lasting, everyday design.”

The Morning Advertiser has reported that Grolsch’s design will be recognised by the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising.

Earlier this year the brand developed a “revolutionary” beer tap system, dubbed Cheersch, which allows customers to drink draught beer at home by purchasing bottles supplied with carbon dioxide cartridges.
