Co-op Polish food range extended

June 10th, 2008

The Co-operative Group is to stock a wider range of Polish foods in its stores.

According to the company, consumer demand is increasing for traditional Polish foods such as beef tripe, pickled cucumber and goulash, Meatinfo.co.uk reports.

Category buyer for the Co-operative Salma Khan suggested that the new foods may tempt British people as well as the group’s Polish customers.

“As well as a rise in mini-breaks to great Polish cities, such as Warsaw and Krakow, people in general are becoming more adventurous with food, so the extended range should prove popular,” she said.

Ms Khan added that the food will appeal to those who want to try “something different”.

The Co-operative’s Polish range already includes pates, ready meals, soft drinks and sauces.

However, recent reports have suggested that many Polish migrants are now leaving the UK after their arrival in the country in 2004.
