Novel marketing idea launched by Aunt Bessie’s

May 11th, 2008

Aunt Bessie’s has introduced a new summer food that it hopes will replicate the popularity of the seasonal tradition of buying a 99p ice cream with a flake.

As British summers are often a complete washout, Aunt Bessie’s has created bangers and mash in a cone.

Looking very similar to the traditional seaside sweet treat, the product is a cone filled with piped mash, sprinkled with peas and gravy and finally a ‘sausage flake’ is added.

Marketing manager of the company Jane Jones stated that many people remember the “excitement” of buying an ice cream on a summer’s day.

“We want to keep something of that tradition going. Now, we can keep up the nostalgic thrill of buying a cone from a van – but without the chill,” she told the Daily Express.

Aunt Bessie’s is renowned for its frozen Yorkshire puddings and its roast potato and mashed potato products feature on the latest Delia Smith TV series.
