Gatorade sports drink arrives in the UK

May 11th, 2008

The UK sports drink category has a new contender, Gatorade, which is being launched by drinks companies PepsiCo and Britvic Soft Drinks.

Launching next month, the drink is already popular around the world, Talking Retail reports.

Since its launch in 1948, the product has now amassed a market share of 48 per cent.

Gatorade brand manager at PepsiCo Arif Haq explained why the beverage has been so popular.

“Apart from its unique and unparalleled scientific heritage, Gatorade is also one of the world’s most iconic sporting brands,” he said.

Marketing director at Britvic Simon Stewart added that the product boasts a “unique optimal scientific formulation that is now free from artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners and preservatives”.

Another new sports drink was announced recently.

Aimia Foods stated last week that the prestigious Slazenger brand will be used on its new range of sports beverages.
