Convenience foods receive top award
Foods that cater for convenience are the most successful, one butcher has said.
According to Robert Rawlings, a butcher in the south of England, food products that are homemade and easy for customers to cook at home are the most popular with shoppers, Meatinfo.co.uk reports.
Noting that these added value products sell the best, he said: “We find our customers don’t have the time to cook at home.”
Mr Rawlings was commenting after being awarded the overall winner at the British Pig Executive regional roadshow.
His beef paupiette received praise from the judges, as well as his hot pies, meatballs and faggots.
“Undeniably, the success is down to the quality of the meat and other ingredients we use as well as the skill of each of the chaps who work here,” Mr Rawlings stated.
Glossop goat cutlets entered by Derbyshire butcher John Mettrick recently achieved the top accolade at the north-west Fine Food Awards.
