Vinegar-flavoured apple sauce innovation
The traditional British food favourite of apple sauce has had a new ingredient added to it.
A new product from the English Provender Company has added an innovative twist to the product by using white balsamic vinegar, Talking Retail reports.
Brand manager of the firm Rachel Talintyre remarked that the development has been made due to consumer desire to try new ingredients.
“Our research shows consumers are ready to experiment with unusual ingredients, but, at the end of the day, we chose white balsamic because it was the best vinegar for the job. For us taste must always come ahead of fashion,” she said.
She added that white balsamic vinegar was chosen as it is “mellow and complex”.
Unlike brown balsamic vinegar, the white variety does not damage the colour of the apples, Ms Talintyre stated.
The English Provender Company also produces a mint sauce product containing balsamic vinegar.
