Pigs’ trotters tipped as new food trend

April 3rd, 2008

The rather unusual delicacy of pigs’ trotters has been hotly tipped to be the next big food trend among the suave and fashionable.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, a new restaurant venue in New York, Hakata Tonton, has incorporated pigs’ feet into 33 of the 39 dishes it sells.

Owner of the Japanese eatery Himi Okajima stated that pigs’ trotters contain the protein collagen.

Women may be interested to note that collagen is used in many beauty creams and aids moisture retention in the body, she said.

“Your hair and skin will look better, but it’s not just for looking beautiful now. If you begin eating collagen in your thirties, you will look younger in your forties,” Ms Okajima advised.

Boar was recently highlighted as the next big food trend, after the government announced a cull on the wild animal in certain parts of the country.
