New halal products from Asda

April 4th, 2008

Supermarket giant Asda is to bring customers a new range of halal frozen meat products.

In a deal with Tahira Foods, customers will be offered a range of halal meat products in the freezer section that includes whole chickens, lamb burgers, meatballs, chicken burgers, kofta kebabs, donner kebabs, nuggets and frankfurters, meatinfo.co.uk reports.

Faiza Akmal, account manager at Tahira Foods, stated that people will trust the brand names, giving them confidence in the products.

He added that changes in consumer shopping habits had contributed to the development.

“Today, more and more Muslims want to buy halal products when they do their one-stop shopping. Offering a comprehensive selection of frozen meats is an important step towards meeting this need,” he remarked.

The Japanese delicacy of Wagyu beef is soon to be sold at Asda for a cut price, the retailer recently announced.
