McDonald’s opts for ‘environmentally-friendly tea’
Tetley will no longer provide McDonald’s with its teabags as the fast food giant has opted to change to PG Tips.
Rainforest Alliance-certified PG Tips will now be adopted by the brand as it looks to become more ethically sound as a company, the Telegraph reports.
The drink will still be charged at the same price, but McDonald’s surely hopes to repeat the success it saw after switching its coffee to a Rainforest Alliance-certified product.
Sales have risen by 22 per cent since the change was made last year.
Vice president of corporate affairs at McDonald’s Nick Hindle stated that the company is trying to make more environmentally-friendly decisions.
“Wherever possible we are working to make sustainable products the only option,” he said.
In November last year, McDonald’s increased the amount it pays UK beef and pork producers.
